The New Home Grant is a program that grants $6,000 to utah home buyers. The purchase however must be a never occupied and new constucted home that will serve as a primary residence in Utah.

*you do not have to be a first time buyer for this grant!

This grant is available for Conventional, FHA, or VA, or Utah Housing Corporation’s First Home, and First Home Plus. Homes that qualify are homes that are recently constructed, they must have a certificate of occupeny or final inspection but the homes cannot be previously occupied. Manufactured homes must be permanently affixed to a foundation.

To qualify for the Grant the home buyer must meet the the following requirements:

  • Single person who make less than $75,000
  • Married couples who  make less than $150,000
  • If more than one unmarried person is taking title to the Eligible Home, each such single person is subject to the $75,000 income limit.
  • Home buyers must occupy the purchased home as a primary, permanent residence no later than 30 days after closing.
  • If home buyers need a mortgage loan to purchase the home, the loan must be a fixed interest rate, amortizing mortgage loan with a term of 30 years or less. 
    Cash buyers can also qualify by contacting Utah Housing Corporation directly.

How to get the Grant

The grant is a on a first come first serve basis and you must enter into contract to buy a qualifying home. Contact a Lender and get get final underwriting approval for financing and have their mortgage lender submit documentation to the Utah Housing Corporation and they will reserve the $6,000 for up to thirty days. If home buyers need a mortgage loan, it must be a fixed interest rate loan with a term of 30 years or less.  Loans may be obtained from any lender qualified to make mortgage loans under Utah law.  Examples of qualifying loans include:
